Our History
Forbes, Foster & Pool, LLC was established in 1991 by veteran trial lawyer Morton G. “Salty” Forbes to serve the needs of insurers, insureds, self-insureds, TPAs, businesses and individuals involved in civil litigation in Southeast Georgia and elsewhere. Our basic philosophy always has been and always will be to take the time to understand each client’s circumstances, needs and objectives up front so as to most effectively and efficiently represent the client’s interests. By fostering mutual respect, we grow and maintain long-term mutually beneficial relationships with our clients. We pledge to provide nothing short of an excellent level of communication enabling those who pay legal bills, settlements and judgments to make informed and sound decisions. We are aware that clients do not like surprises and we govern ourselves accordingly. We seek innovative strategies and practical solutions. We are guided by the concept of “zealous advocacy within the bounds of the law.” We recognize that the outcome of your case is dependent upon our hard work, preparation, and commitment.
Our lawyers have tried numerous cases and handled many appeals, the vast majority of them successful, in federal courts and in the courts of Georgia and other states. Over the years, we have developed close relationships with, and a sizeable pool of knowledge of, the judiciary and bar before whom and with whom we practice. We are not and do not strive to be the largest firm in our geographical region. Nor do we attempt to service many lines of business. We are a close-knit firm devoted almost exclusively to the defense of civil litigation.
We have experience providing a 24-7-365 serious accident response protocol. We have experience serving as national counsel. We have always held Martindale-Hubbell’s highest ranking, AV, and we have been listed for many years by Martindale-Hubbell as a preeminent firm in our field. We are experienced and seasoned in handling high stakes and complex cases. Some of our major areas of experience include product liability, trucking, industrial accidents, professional liability, construction, foodborne illness, insurance coverage, premises liability, and auto.
Over the years, through proactive participation, we have grown a sound network of local, regional, national, and in fact international contacts, a valuable resource for our clients. Our lawyers have served as Board Member of the Defense Research Institute, Presidents of our state and local defense organization, President of the local bar association, State Representative and Admissions Committee member for the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Nonprofit Board President, Chairperson of the local economic development authority, Georgia Supreme Court Appointee to serve as Special Master in Lawyer Disciplinary Proceedings, State Representative to the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence, and in other positions as well. In addition, we have been active in the Council on Litigation Management (formerly known as the Council on Ethical Billing) since shortly after its formation. Our lawyers have been named Super Lawyer by Atlanta Magazine, given numerous Continuing Legal Education presentations, had papers published both in law school and afterwards, and taught as adjunct university professor in the areas of business and construction law.
