A lifelong resident of Georgia, Scot was born in Statesboro and attended Emory University, graduating with honors in Political Science in 1993, and the University of Georgia School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1996.  He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  While in law school, Scot was selected for and served for two years on the editorial board of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law.  He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1996.

Since the Spring of 2003, Scot has been an Adjunct Professor in the College of Business Administration, School of Accountancy at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, where he has taught the legal environment of business and, currently, building construction law.

Scot is married to Tifani Pool, who is the Assistant Registrar for Registration and Records at Georgia Southern University.  Their working and living in both Savannah and Statesboro have been advantageous, given that the firm’s business covers a large portion of Georgia and occasionally South Carolina. They have one child, Ellis Vanderver Pool.
